Formation

 

We assist in the rehabilitation of inmates and their families through the formation of hearts and minds of those involved with PJPS. 
 
On weekends, PJPS volunteers facilitate sessions for our scholars and their mothers, focusing on values and psycho-spiritual formation.
  
These sessions aim to equip both the children and the mother in dealing with the difficult realities linked to the parent’s incarceration.
 
It is in this holistic approach to education that we hope to break the vicious cycle of poverty, ignorance, injustice, and criminality in which these children and parents are trapped.
 
Along with our benefactors and partners at the Bureau of Corrections, these volunteer groups undergo Ignatian retreats and formation where they encounter God in a more intimate way and rediscover their vocation to the prison ministry.

PJPS Foundation, Inc.

  • The Philippine Jesuit Prison Service Foundation, Inc. (PJPS) is a non-stock, non-profit organization that advocates for a more humane approach to the rehabilitation of incarcerated individuals and their families.  It is one of the official socio-pastoral apostolate of the Society of Jesus in the Philippines.  Since its onset in 1994, PJPS has been responding to the needs of prisoners through its various programs and services.
  • Our flagship project is a scholarship program for children of inmates. Through the years, PJPS has helped these children cope with the harsh reality of having an incarcerated father through education. We are able to do this through the support of friends and benefactors who generously responded to the call of the Lord: "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."

We are able to do this only through the support of friends and benefactors who generously responded to the call of the Lord. In this regard, we would like to seek your support for us to be able to continue this good work.
